Running With The Clydesdales
Help us support the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation!
We are participating in the Run to Remember, which is a 5k Run/Walk held in memory of the more than 574 Chicago police officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
I began running at a challenge by my friend and fellow officer. The Run to Remember 2010 was my first 5k ever. I started training in January and was ready to go by May. I was never a runner. I still consider myself more of a "Shuffler" than a "Runner", but it has been good for me, and I CHALLENGE YOU TO JOIN ME! I've created a team for the Run To Remember: TEAM RUNNING WITH THE CLYDESDALES - There are Thoroughbreds and there are Clydesdales; we will never be mistaken for Thoroughbreds. Clydesdales shuffle where others merely run. We welcome all, especially first-time runners (even if you just walk) to the Team. (When you join the team, I will share some helpful hints and tips to help you prepare for your first 5k.)
2017 marks my 23rd year as a Chicago Police Officer. My goal as a Team Captain is to gather together 23 individuals for Team Running With The Clydesdales who share my appreciation for the work of the CPD, and the sacrifices made since 1835 by men and women (and those who love them) who serve and protect the residents and visitors to the land now know as Chicago. UPDATE: As of January 31st we reachd 23 members of our Team, so my new goal is to reach 31 members - one for each of the officers who has died in the line of duty since I became an officer 23 years ago. Our Team fundraising goal is $5740.00 - $10 for each of the 574 officers who have died in the line of duty.
Why should you support the CPMF?
The Chicago Police Memorial Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to honoring the lives of our fallen heroes by providing support and financial assistance to the families of Chicago Police Officers who were killed or catastrophically injured in the line of duty. Through your generous support, they serve the families of those who have served and protected Chicago’s citizens. The Foundation provides $60,000 to the family at the time of an officer’s death and continues to support the family by providing educational and tuition assistance for the officer’s children.
Won’t you help?
The Foundation pledges to “Never Forget” the families of Chicago’s fallen and catastrophically injured officers and they keep that promise several times throughout the year at events like the Candlelight Vigil, Operation Santa and the Run to Remember. Won’t you please show that you still remember them too by making a donation today?
